As parents, most of us are familiar with the pains of moving child seats in and out of cars. Conventional car seats are often heavy, hard to handle and inconvenient for taking on trips, not to mention the cost of hiring car seats when you book a holiday rental vehicle.
Well, necessity is the mother of invention and a new product from Dutch start-up, Purseat, recently caught our eye with its revolutionary 4-in-1 foldable product. The innovative new design is easy to travel with, complies with safety regulations and is the size of a large purse or handbag.
In its folded position, Purseat functions as a hard-case bag which can be carried by hand or over the shoulder. When travelling, renting a car or taking a flight or a taxi, the Purseat can be transformed into four convenient positions to suit the needs and safety of your child:
1) the purse position (hand-luggage-sized)
2) a fully reclinable travel bed
3) a booster seat
4) a car seat that is adjustable to fit children from approximately 3 to 12 years
Born from the personal frustration of its creator, father and entrepreneur, David Li, a the Purseat is perfect for parents looking to eliminate the hassle of lugging around heavy car seats.
David says: “My wife was developing back pains from regularly transferring large, heavy car seats from one car to the other. Then, when we were travelling with our children, we would have to rent an expensive and often filthy car seat.
“I was also running a parenting shop in Amsterdam where we would constantly get parents asking us for car seats that were easier to travel with. I created the Purseat to solve these problems.”
Of course, the most important thing for parents is their child’s safety and the creators of Purseat designed the product to comply with all safety regulations across Asia, Europe and North America, while still being convenient and stylish to carry.
The first Purseats are now available on Kickstarter, priced from €212 (approximately £180) to €282 (approximately £240). The product is adjustable for children from as young as 18 months to 7 years old for the travel bed position, and from approximately 3 to 12 years for the car seat functions, providing years of return on investment.
